Mewar Festival Rajasthan
Mewar Festival is an 18-day festival celebrated in Rajsthan with great zeal and excitement. Mewar Festival is celebrated in Rajasthan to welcome the arrival of spring. Mewar Festival also coincides with yet another famous festival of Rajasthan i.e festival of Gangaur which is celebrated in Udaipur.
Mewar Festival is of immense importance and significance for the people especially the women of Rajasthan. During Mewar Festival the women dress in their best. The women of the region gather and dress the images of Issar and Gangaur. The women dressed in vibrant colors also carry the colorful images of Issar and Gangaurin a traditional and ceremonial procession through different parts of their city.
The procession of women carrying the images of Issar and Gangaur finally ends up at Pichhola Lake. The women then transfer the images to special boats amidst singing and festivity. Besides the procession many cultural events are also held at the end of the festivities. The events at Mewar Festival Rajasthan include folk and Rajasthani songs, traditional dances and a unique display of fireworks.
