Jaisalmer - The Yellow City

The City of Jaisalmer was founded by Rao Jaisal in 1155. Jaisalmer. The Golden city or the yellow city, Jaiselmer lies in the heart of the desert. Jaisalmer is surrounded by huge sand dunes with magnificent and invincible sand coloured Places and forts.

Jaisalmer is also famous for the elegantly carved balconies of " Havellis " of rich merchants with rich architectural work all over. There is a exquisite fort suspended on the hill top, Trikuta hill with beautiful palaces and 'jharokhas'. Jaisalmer is known as 'the Museum city' where you can see stonework facades of merchant havellis, many ancient private houses,and a string of sumptuously carved Jain temples.

Jaisalmer in the heart of the desert sand dunes, amazes magnificently in the early morning. The sunset also has a unusual glow in Jaisalmer. The view of the evenings transforming into night is breathtaking indeed in Jaisalmer.
Best time to visit Jaisalmer is between September to April.

Reaching Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is around 7 – 8 hours drive from Jodhpur. It is well connected by road and Rail from other major cities of Rajasthan and India.
