Amer Fort Jaipur
The splendid and placid Amer fort or Amber Fort was built by three rulers. The first being Raja Man Singh who laid the foundation of and started the project. After Man Singh, Mirza Raja Jai Singh took the charge built most of the structure and finally Swai Jai Singh gave the finishing touch to Amer Fort. This massive castle took almost two centuries to get completed. The main work however was done in 1500's.
The mesmerizing and amazing Amer Fort stands solid like a guard above the still waters of the Maotha Lake. Amer fort has both Hindu and Mughal architectural styles and the fusion architecture is an unique example of harmony and brotherhood. Amer Fort was a significant strategic military bastion and it used to be a palace, an administrative headquarters.
You can trek to along the track or take an elephant ride to reach the gigantic and beautiful Amber Fort. As soon as you reach inside the fort you would be amazed and delighted to see its majestic grandeur. The medieval courtyards inside, the exquisite temples, captivating and enchanting pavilions and bright and colorful gardens will take you to another world and you feel like going back to the era of Kings.
The Amer fort is also famous for its interiors which have an incredible and stunning array of painted engravings. The walls, ceilings and interiors with complex mirror and stone works will enthrall you. In the court yard you can see two astounding edifices, one is Diwan-E-Aam built of red sandstone and other one, awe-inspiring Ganesh Pol Gate.
There is also an archetypal Mughal garden, Sukh Niwas and on the other side is the Jas Mandir. The main attraction of Amer Fort is the glorious Sheesh Mahal which is full of mosaics, tinted mirrors and glass embellishments making the fort even more beautiful.
Inside the fort there is a Kali temple traditionally referred to as the Shila Devi Temple. The temple is believed to be masked in mystery. The Shila Devi temple is eye-catching by its overwhelming and grand silver doors and silver lions.
Inside the fort there is also a Zenana Palace also called Women's Palace. It was meant for the queens and has elite and exclusive areas and chambers linked by a general walkway. The zenana was craftily designed to provide extreme secrecy and privacy and solitude to the queens.
