Rajyavardhan singh rathore is born on 29 january, 1970 in jaisalmer. He is from an army background. His father Laxman singh Rathore is a col. In the Indian army whereas his mother is a teacher. Her name is Manju Rathore. Rajyavardhan singh is very polite spoken & humble by nature. According to his parents he is down to earth from his childhood.

Previous shooting was his hobby but as the time passes he makes it his profession. He has a passion to do something bright through this hobby. According to him if he was not a shooter then he will definetly go for cricket.

Rathore was about to be selected in the cricket team of Madhya pradesh for ranji trophy. when he was in class 10 at that time, his mother discouraged him to go in the team, as she wanted him to complete his preliminary education. Rathore was not selected for the team then he appeared in the national defense academy exam & cleared the exam.

He termed as a major in army.He was conferred with the “Sword of honour” in 1990.In 1998 he seriously took up shooting.Due to kargil war he was bound to give services in the war because of his commitment. He fought very braverly in Kashmir.

His achievements are as follows:
· He got Olympic silver medal in 2004 Athens Games .
· He got the gold medal in 2005.
· Ati Vishisht Seva Medal

His awards & honours:
· Rathore was conferred with the 'Sword of Honor' from Indian Military Academy in 1990 when he was major.
· Lt. Colonel Rathore was rewarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for services he has provided, in kargil.
· He honoured by Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2004.
