Sri Ganganagar popularly called Ganganagar is the northern most city of Rajasthan which is situated in western part of India.

History

The city was given the name because of the king Maharaja Ganga singh who was ruler of the Bikaner state and ganganagar is one of the most valuable city for him in terms of revenue through agriculture as the land is quite fertile.
Previously it was part of Bikaner state but later on converted to separate state.
The city is almost 125 years old when chief enginner A. W. E. Standley was unofficially owning the state.

One of its side is shared by border of Pakistan. In 1971 Indo-Pak war, this city was worse affected.

City and Layout

Sri ganganagar is one of the well planned and architect city of India. It seems to be influenced by Paris architect. The model of the city is quite well as any stranger can go through any part of city for the first time without any kind of trouble. This city is mainly divided into a separate residential area and commercial area.

The best part of the city is that there is more than hundred parks, which can be found out in every 100 meters of distance. All the parks are well developed. "Block Area" is the oldest part of the city and still is the most beautiful part. It is planned in block structured, hence given this name.

Economy

The city produces the most amount of crops in rajasthan, a full desert now converted into lush green city. In surrounding areas, agriculture is the most popular way of earning. As this city is near to Punjab, a great state of India so culture, language is influenced by Punjab.

There are so many industries like Cotton Ginning and Pressing factories, Mustard Oil mills and Wheat Flour mills and of course the famous Rajasthan State Ganganagar Sugar Mills Ltd. Which supplies liquor and sugar to all across the country. Due to agriculture development motor and automobile market expands exponentially and became main hub of the state.

Culture and Language

Culture of the city is fully influenced by the state punjab, the latest fashion, designer dresses, wardrobe are very famous and people are very much fond of purchasing clothes and wearing. Gol Market is the main center market of city and leads to maximum number of visitors. Cloth market is the best running market in terms of sales and profits.

People here mainly speaks hindi and in regional language punjabi and marwari. Maximum number of people are locals and not came from outside the state. Culture is very friendly.

Sri Ganganagar may become business capital of Rajasthan in coming years.
