Location : Ahar, Udaipur, Rajasthan. Significance : Believed To Be Site Of 4,000 Year-Old Township. On Display : Skin Rubber, Seals, Grain Pots Of 1st century BC.
The museum at Ahar has a diverse collection of findings from excavations at the mound of Dhulkot. It is supposed to be the site of a 4,000 year old township. The main exhibits of the museum are the skin scrubber (1st century BC) seals (1st century BC), grain pot (1st century BC), animal figures stone weights and balls.
Some good-looking Hindu and Jain icons are displayed in one gallery, the most outstanding being the metallic image of the Jain Tirthankara (saint). Among the collection of sculptures, there is a statue of Vishnu-Nag-Nathan belonging to the medieval period in which snakes are entwined all around the deity.
Timing : 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. Closed : Friday and gazetted holidays.
